![]() ![]() Marvel wasn’t learning from the risk of full transformation as the Ghostbusters franchise has over time. Many critics believe that this is perhaps the reason why Eternals did end up coming in second place. Similarly, 2016’s Ghostbusters only starred a female cast, but the entire story and overall plot of the first film basically remained intact. However, other than that, the script and overall plot were quite a generic, classic superhero take. ![]() The Eternals, similarly to 2016’s Ghostbusters, was led with a brand new cast that put diversity at the forefront. In fact, many were expecting Eternals to take the cake just for the representation that fans have been waiting for what feels like centuries to materialize now finally being delivered. This is not to say or conclude that diversity doesn’t sell. Not to mention, the last film in the Ghostbuster franchise, 2016’s Ghostbusters, tanked at the box office despite it featuring a full-female lead cast. Of course, this was Eternals' third weekend in theaters, and the film did take the number one spot for the previous two. The shock of a Marvel film, especially one jam-packed with 10 brand new superheroes complete with the MCU's most diverse cast to date, not landing automatically at the number one spot is somewhat jarring. In just three short days, Ghostbusters: Afterlife brought in $44 million in comparison to Eternals' respective 10.8 million, which landed the Marvel Studios film in second place. The better part of this scene shows Winston in the old Ghostbusters building as the Ecto-1 is brought into the garage. Is she interviewing him? Did I miss some dialogue where she’s doing a story or a biography or something? It just seems like a weird conversation for two people who know each other to have. Winston is telling Annie about his success as a businessman. (The movie is largely a tribute to the memory of Ramis who passed away in 2014). He’s talking with Annie Potts (Janine Melnitz) the secretary from the original Ghostbusters who had a bit of a fling with Egon (Harold Ramis) back in the day. His hand is hooked up to the electrodes from the box.Īs she shows him the cards, he guesses right each time but she shocks him anyways. In the scene, she has Venkman’s little shock box and his deck of cards. She shows up only in this mid-credits scene. Venkman shows up in the climax of Ghostbusters: Afterlife along with the other original Ghostbusters, but Weaver does not. ![]() Well in the mid-credits scene he gets a taste of his own medicine. ![]()
